Rated 4 out of 5 by from Disney Store Marvel Ultimate Series Captain America The new Marvel Ultimate Series is a Disney Store exclusive that came out of nowhere. This line is everything I would make if I could may my perfect action figure series. 12inch scale with soft goods combined with top level action figure articulation and accessories. This Captain America figure is a monster compared to the likes of Hasbro Legends and still maintains up to 30 points of articulation. I really like his simple and comic book inspired costume. It resembles the costume found on the Disney XD Avengers cartoon. To me, it represents what Captain America would look like if he was animated in a Disney film. Though I love it, this figure does come with some challenges. I, along with most people, was put of with the way the collar was made to look like a thick turtle neck. The good thing about soft goods, things are much easily modifiable. I just simply folded under the color and zipped up the suit in the back. I think this looks so much better. The wrist articulation could be a little better. The way the top of the gloves are molded block the wrist from bending in slightly. Be warned that I did have to take my original figure back as the leg joints were so loose and floppy that he could not even stand. I opened a second one at the store and it was the same issue. Luckily the Disney Store was nice enough to let me get a third one and hedge my bets. The third one I opened left leg was good, but the right leg was still loose enough where the top leg joint can’t support the leg if it move straight out in a kick pose. Not a major thing but just be warned. The back of the box mentions that there will be more hero’s and villains in this line. I literally lay awake at night think of how awesome a Thor figure in this line will be. I am keeping my fingers crossed that Thor comes out with Thor: Ragnarok later next year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why 5 Stars For What Seems to Be an Underwhelming Cap? You may be wondering why this figure deserves 5 stars? You've seen and heard others' opinions about these figures. You've seen the in-hand, promotional pictures as well as a few video reviews, and then you think that this is the worst Captain America figure ever! I beg to differ. ;) Now, when this figure came out, I had no clue that Disney was making these Marvel premium figures. When I saw both Cap and Widow at the store, I was instantly drawn to them, and for $34.95, they looked pretty awesome. I'll admit, I hesitated on getting these because even though Cap and Widow are favorites of mine, I was skeptical about getting these because of all the comments and reviews I was hearing online saying how bad these figures were. Well, yesterday, I went ahead and purchased Cap at my local Disney Store, and I have to admit, I was a bit concerned if I was going to regret this purchase, but thankfully, that didn't turn out to be the case. Cap is so awesome!! I love this figure so much. Heck, it's probably the best Cap figure I own, and it's so much fun posing this around. The sculpt work is really good. It seems quite a lot of people don't like the headsculpt, but I like the sculpt quite a lot even though I prefer the classic look with the eagle ears sticking out on the sides of the mask. After taking a closer look at this figure, I found out why the head was appearing a bit on the small side. The outfit, more in particular, the "turtleneck" part of it. I will admit, it doesn't look that great, but I found a solution to where you can tuck in that collar, and now, he looks perfect! Despite the minor gripe about the collar, the rest of the outfit is great. It's very form-fitting. I love the dry brushing details on the gloves and boots. The utility belt is awesome. Speaking of the belt, in the box, it's placed high up, causing others who look at this to think it is stuck in that position, but it turns out you can shift the belt down to the waistline. I especially love the chainmail added to the outfit. Everything is really nicely stitched. The zipper on the back may be a turnoff for some, but this doesn't bother me one bit. Speaking of the zipper, I'll get into its purpose in a moment (and no, it's not just so you can undress the figure). The body that Disney used is really good. It's got a good muscular appearance as Cap should be, and while some have complained that the hands and feet are oversized, keep in mind that this figure is not based on real-life human proportions. It's meant to represent the look combination of the comics and the cartoon. Looking at this figure more, Cap really does remind me of how he looked in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon. Paint application is really good. I would recommend examining all the available Cap figures in the store to get the best possible paint apps on the face. There were some copies I saw in the store that had some paint slop on the face, so I would definitely watch out for that. Articulation is superb on this figure! Cap is loaded with 30+ points of articulation that consists of: -Ball jointed neck to allow side-to-side, up and down, and tilt movement -Ball-hinged shoulders -Bicep swivel -Double-jointed elbows -Hinge and swivel wrists (the hinge movement of up and down is a bit limited, but you can still get a pretty good range of motion in the wrists) -Ball jointed midsection (simulates both as an ab crunch and waist swivel) -T-jointed ball-hinged hips -Thigh swivels -Double-jointed knees -Ball-jointed ankles -Articulated toe joints It's unbelievable how not only awesome the amount of articulation is with this Cap, but also how amazing the range of motion is. I used to own a few Hot Toys Caps (high end collectible figures), and those figures didn't even have this much range of motion that this Cap has. I understand that's saying a lot, but hey, to each his/her own. Cap comes with two pairs of alternate hands (fists and relaxed hands), and of course his oh so mighty red-silver-and-blue shield, which you can attach via straps through either forearm. Guys, I discovered something awesome about the shield and the figure: IT MAGNETIZES TO HIS BACK!!!!!! :D At first I thought there was now way of the shield attaching to Cap's back, but after playing around with it, I discovered that his shield attaches to his back thanks to the zipper on the back and the hidden magnet inside the middle of the shield. Disney, I applaud you for adding this feature! I have not seen a single person mention this about the figure, even the reviews and comments I've seen have not mentioned this hidden feature. Check out the pictures below as I am not bluffing about this. As for scale, Cap is 11.5" tall, so if you were expecting him to fit in with your 1/6 scale figures, you may end up being disappointed about that. The figure does fit in with Barbie dolls, and he doesn't look that bad right next to some of the Disney Store princess dolls such as Anna and Elsa from Frozen. Marvel Ultimate Series is its own line, so if you let go of your issues about the scale, you may find yourself appreciating these figures a bit more. So, final thoughts? Best Cap figure ever! I love this figure so much that now, I want to go back and get Widow to go with him. I'm sure she'll be just as good as Cap once I get a chance to purchase her figure. I've had my doubts, and now, I'm happy with my purchase on Cap. :) It's just a shame that the sales on these figures haven't been doing as well as they should. I highly recommend this figure to kids and collectors, and really, anyone who is a Captain America fan. If you can get past the scale the headsculpt, and resolve the turtleneck issue by tucking that collar on the inside, you won't be disappointed with the figure.
